Video Title: The HOTTEST Interior Design Trends You Should Know About!
Hey there hi welcome to the channel I am Garrett and in this video we are talking about the hottest interior design Trends on social media right now I want to hear your opinions of them so be sure you share those with me in the comments section down below oh the first Trend we
Have to talk about that people love right now that I am seeing all over the place are wall finishes I’m talking about plaster finishes I’m talking about lime wash and you have some really good example of wall finishes like Venetian plaster that are gorgeous there’s also there’s
Like a plaster esque finish that people are really liking and it’s like a sanded material you put it on and it kind of covers up the wall texture you have all of these are cool I kind of like them I kind of don’t like them because it just
Depends on how you do them as to how they turn out and the type of wall you have a lot of people have sprayed texture walls which are like an orange peel and it’s not great it’s not perfect or ideal but it’s what most people have so I don’t think there’s anything wrong
With having that or leaving it in your home I think if you have flat walls embrace the flat walls okay like that’s like next level great finish and quality but not everybody has that if you have tramel walls that’s gorgeous I absolutely love that I think that’s kind
Of the happy medium it can be done in a spray form but it’s not as expensive as having smooth walls and it doesn’t look as bad as orange pels so I actually like that and right now I’m seeing so many people do them in their home whether that’s smoothing out the texture they
Have on their walls to have flat walls or just applying something over it and something different or paneling to cover it up and get rid of it I see a lot of people do that on walls and ceilings and I think it’s great having an interesting finish on your wall immediately makes
The space look luxurious which is why it’s such a hot Trend right now but the downside to that is if you’re renting there’s no going back okay so you’re not taking that off the wall and you know maybe your landlord will like it maybe they won’t I would discuss it with them
Before you do that I probably just wouldn’t do it in a rental because why spend all the money on somebody else’s house but that’s beside the point I like these I think they look good the finishes if they’re done well not everybody is good at everything like
Some people are really great at making interior design YouTube videos and other people will still do it even though they aren’t that’s not the point either there’s lots of things that you’ll be good at and you won’t be good at but you know putting a wall texture on might not
Be that thing so be careful of that if you’re trying to DIY something I’m not a diyer I don’t recommend anybody else kind of do that because you just never know what you’re going to get out of it and I hate to be the person that says
Like you could do it on your own and then you can’t do it so just be careful be on the lookout for what you really can do and what you cannot do or there’s always the option there to hire somebody yes it’s more expensive but you do get a
Little bit of a guarantee of the quality of work and if they mess something up you can call them back out and they can can come and fix it which I also think is really great something else that’s really great is getting yourself out of a hole when it comes to decorating if
You’re stuck on something you don’t know what to do or you just don’t know where to start I am at your service and you can always book a one-on-one private consultation with me using the link in the description box down below we’re going to intro. c/g leic another hot
Trend right now that I am seeing everywhere is long drapes you know usually we will say like the drapes should kiss the floor and I’m not kissing the floor anytime soon honey but the drapes do and I like that I like that fit because it feels very very
Custom what I’m seeing a lot of people doing are getting pleated drapes of any sort and having them be like maybe an inch too long or maybe even a half an inch too long and they kind of lay to the side it’s interesting I don’t personally person Al get it I don’t know
I like I’m not mad at it I don’t love it I’m not going to do it but I do actually have one of my drapes that are done with it because I measured for the drapes on one side of the window and the other side ended up being longer so I have to
Like completely redo the hooks in them to fix it but I have it so it’s interesting I get where it’s going and I kind of sort of like it it looks very aesthetic it looks very like magazine photo shoot it looks very you know like architectural digest I think that’s
Beautiful but what is the functionality is my question because I don’t like drapes that like pull and puddle on the floor because you can’t use them there there’s all of this extra fabric what’s a cat going to go lay on it it’s going to get dog hair all in it it’s going to
Get Dusty I don’t like that so I don’t do it you know the extra long drapes the ones that are kind of they they have a little swag on the bottom of them it’s pretty it looks good photographed but what is the reality of it in real life
Maybe you have that and you want to share that with me and say like maybe you’re just being dramatic Garrett but I’m never dramatic okay I’m always on point and that’s the tea but I want to know how do you feel about this because
For me it kind of is like like I’m not mad at it it’s not offensive to me because it looks good and I love everything that looks good but what is the point what is the reason are you actually using them I don’t think so I
Think that’s the real tea I think you’re just not using them which is why you can have it that way and you know I always tell you not to jump on a trend unless you really like it unless it’s your personal style and I think this kind of
Fits that niche of if you really like it go for it I also think if you like this it’s beneficial if you are buying like store-bought drapes that are a little bit too long you can kind of pleat them and style them like this to get that
Look and I think that works as well for me I like a really clean simple fit drape I think that looks beautiful especially if you’re going to use them but if you’re not going to and you say like hey I like the look of this and I
Like that because you know it it maybe it is functional maybe you know you have drapes either side of a door and every time you open it they kind of blow out of the way well if they’re a little extra long and they’re sat on the floor
They won’t do that maybe that works out better for you too I think there’s a positive and a negative to this I just want to hear what you have to say about it another hot Trend right now is a mid toned wood tone I like it I think it’s
Beautiful you know me I I have light wood floors and I didn’t choose them because I was like this is the hottest Trend I have to have it right now it’s the new it’s the latest greatest thing I did it because I wanted my home to feel
Brighter and you know my lower level were surrounded by really tall and Lush trees which block out a little bit of the sunlight so it makes my space feel brighter having a lighter color but if I had the choice if it made sense I would have done a darker wood tone because
That’s actually what I like the most which is why I have a lot of mahogany Furniture in my home I like this midtone wood tone I think it’s beautiful I think it’s so warm it brings so much warmth into a space but I do know that all of
You that you were like oh the White Oak is the biggest Trend it’s here to stay it’s the most timeless thing you were not watching my Channel at that point obviously because I never said that but I think you know you might be in a situation where you’re like well wait a
Second because that’s not what I have and I want to be on Trend you can always mix two different wood tones together just be consistent about what you’re doing and look at the base tones of them to create something that feels natural this midtone wood tone Works beautifully
Because it’s got the lighter tones that a white oak has but it’s got the darker tones that something like mahogany does and you can mix it really seamlessly in with different wood tones and everything so I think that’s really good that’s a positive about this and I’m seeing it
For floors I’m seeing it for banisters I am seeing it in Furniture as well I think it’s good I think it’s great I like it it’s what is popular right now and I’m seeing so many people gravitate towards and I think it’s also kind of that that whole idea that the pendulum
Swings right we’re going from White Oak which was like the biggest Trend and now it’s like o well that’s so light let’s go for something dark and right now that lighter wood tone is trending out while midtones are trending in I don’t think there’s anything wrong with either I
Think it really depends on the space and your personal Style and what will benefit your home the most my house I would love to have darker floors and I could do that upstairs which is really bright and light but downstairs is a lot darker and moodier so I want to embrace
A little bit of brightness by having a lighter toned floor to bounce some of that light off of you want to address what your space needs and let that guide your decision and you all know what I’m like on this channel well actually those of you who are subscribers know exactly
What I’m like on this channel because you actually are here and subscribed and those of you who are not subscribed probably don’t know I am always telling you to do what feels best for you in your home and to not follow Trends and you don’t have to have the latest and
Greatest thing just because it’s new you can have something that you really enjoy so if you are not subscribed you should probably hit that subscribe button You’ made it this far already okay you see the value and I know you can see see it so be sure you take a moment hit the
Subscribe button join our leik family and I would really appreciate it if you’d give this video a like another major Trend that I am seeing and maybe it’s not a trend or maybe it’s just some an observation I’m making okay is no window treatments no blinds no drapes no
Curtains nothing and I don’t know if it’s a trend because people are like oh we want to embrace minimalism and not have anything or if you are just putting it all out there on display of okay the neighbors are looking in those windows and they are seeing everything and maybe
You like that maybe you’re into that thing I don’t know but you better check with your neighbors first honey cuz that’s rude if they’re not but that’s beside the point I am seeing so many spaces that have no window treatments at all and it maybe it’s a budget thing and
We’re just like oh we haven’t got there yet we don’t have window treatments and I’m seeing this on like major interior design TV shows and it’s like oh the bedroom it’s so gorgeous it’s so beautiful no drapes in sight in the bed bedroom no so it’s something out there I
You know I’m reporting the facts I’m reporting the news to you I am impartial in that regard but for me in my home I have drapes I have window treatments I’m not trying to have you peeking what’s happening in my bathroom while I’m in the shower okay maybe my husband could
Do that if he wants but that’s not for you and I just feel like most people want that so the whole no window treatments thing you know you can do that in some areas like in the studio here behind me I have a window and it
Needs to have a window because this is where I sit and film and I don’t want you looking at my neighbor’s house but out of the front of my house I don’t have to have window treatments because it’s my office like what are you going to see me sitting in here talking to
Myself on a camera like oh wow big deal but this is an office like I’m not doing anything interesting in here so in the bedroom yeah I’m going to have window treatments in the bathroom I’m going to have them on the side of my house that looks directly into my neighbors I’m
Going to have them but where I have privacy and I don’t need to have window treatments they’re not always necessary plus if my neighbors want to look in my window and try and catch what I’m doing I’m going to stare them right back down okay and they will know what is going on
Window treatments are necessary and some places and maybe other places you don’t need them but where you want that privacy in a bedroom uh in a bathroom where you’re changing clothes where you just don’t want your neighbors looking at you you probably want to have window treatment so don’t be that person that’s
Like oh we’re just going to go raw with no window treatments out here because sometimes you need them even if it’s just to block out some really harsh light in your space the no window treatments thing it’s happening a lot of people like it a lot of people are doing
It or maybe they just haven’t budgeted in those window treatments yet that could just be as simple as that but I’m seeing this all over the place and I don’t like it I’m not doing it in my home I don’t approve of it plus window treatments add so much to a space and
You can enhance it you can play with the proportions with window treatments so for me I’m going to have them in my house and you can tell me what your opinion of them is maybe you like to have them in your house but you’re glad your neighbor doesn’t you can share that
With us as well not that we want to hear it another hot Trend right now and one that honestly I think I need in my life is the integrated headboard oh I love this trend I like it because it’s basically what it is is a headboard that is like built into the
Wall and it extends beyond the nightstands I love it because it makes a bed feel so much larger and it kind of encapsulates that entire sleeping area I think it’s great because it just makes this space feel so much more built in and designed but the reality is anybody
Could have this they are there are so many of these beds hitting the market right now I see some of them on CB2 and Lulu and Georgia some of my favorite places to shop for new furniture and they have them there they look great they’re modular they can be taken apart
Or added on to so if you say oh I’m tired of that you can get rid of the side panels that make up the integrated headboard but a lot of people do them built-in as well well you could DIY this even and just get like a really big
Oversized piece of plywood and fabric upholster it all together boom there you go you have it this is so cool I really like it and I like the feel of it the headboard that extends beyond the nightstand it makes the nightstands feel like they’re a part of the bed even
Though they’re not and you you sometimes they actually are like a floating nightstand on a headboard that was very popular with Danish modern design and I think it’s really cool I absolutely adore integrated headboard why is this popular and why is it trending well I think it’s been something that’s existed
For a long time and people have always kind of liked it to panel an entire wall like a headboard and then obviously you don’t have your bed be the entire length of the wall so you put the nightstands there it makes a lot of sense I think it
Looks good and I like that we’re extending that material that the headboard is made out of whether it’s wood or upholstered it could be a velvet it could be a linen I love love love love an IND decorated headboard and like I said I want one in my house I don’t
Know if it’ll be this house or another house or whatever but I want one I’m going to have one I’m make it myself if I have to I like the integrated headboard just another layer and I think that’s why I really enjoy it and you can
Do something really fun you can have a vibrant colored headboard you could do something interesting on your wall you could have a wallpaper and it also tones things down a little bit because that layer is extended the integrated headboard is great if you have a smaller
Room because it doesn’t feel like oh you know the bed is just here it’s pushed into the corner it’s here it’s there it extends that length it makes that linear line that makes the space look longer that’s what happens when you add more linear lines to a space and I think
That’s really cool as well just remember I’m reporting the trends to you as I see them and what’s out there not saying you have to do it I’m not saying don’t do it you have to address what will work best in your space but you can take any of
These Trends and adjust them or accommodate them to fit your needs or make an improvement in your home in your life in your space and I think that is fantastic speaking of fantastic and speaking of Trends be sure you check out this video right over here all about

I currently do not have any window treatments at the back of my house from the family room. We have a large back yard (half acre) and the people around us have bigger yards and we all have big mature trees and wood privacy fences so no one can see in to anyone's houses. We had wood blinds to begin with but we took them down. Does this sound ok? I wish I could show you a picture but I do not know how to attach a picture to a post.
I have a bookcase headboard with sliding doors. The bed also has deep drawers at the foot that glide smoothly. I don’t care if these are in or out of fashion; I don’t think I could love my bed more than I do. I’m a book person and love to be surrounded by my favorite titles. The only thing I don’t enjoy is when my cat Ragnar pelts my head with my Frida Kahlo dolls and pillows from the mantle at dawn.
Off topic real quick…I love those glasses with your sweater! I’m finding that my style isn’t just classic and kinda timeless…but I definitely want low maintenance too. Smooth walls and ceilings are not just timeless but easier to keep clean. Textured surfaces gather dust and some textures aren’t as easy as others to keep clean and dust makes things dull. I personally couldn’t live without window treatments. We need then because of the heat in the summer and to protect textiles from fading. Another wonderful video as always! ❤
Drapes sweeping the floors, are mere dust gatherers.
You look gorgeous in this video.
My condo is on the top floor. Also I don’t have a lot of natural light. Window treatments colllects dust and I have cats. No one can see me and I prefer no window treatments. I have outside shades that I can let down to block out light at night.
Window treatments depend on the house & situation. If your house is on top of a mountain, with great views, or the nearest neighbors a mile away, it changes things. I think most bedrooms need window treatments, not just for looks, for privacy, light elimination, and a sense of cozy security at night.
Do you think you're seeing what seems to be a 'no window treatment' 'trend' is from realtors/stagers just for the sake of photo shoots? I think it's a great idea to call attention to the windows for potential buyers and seems to create a cleaner look.
Those curtain being to long just sweeps the floor and get dirty I don’t like it
Flat walls for me with a flat finish. Walls and trim are the same shade of a soft white. I love the look!
Dark floors show animal hair and dust. I’m not dirty, but at the same time, I don’t want to have to sweep the floors daily. I have two cats and a dog.
For privacy, the windows here use a mirrored privacy screen do you can see out but they can't see in.
We don't currently have window treatments in our family room for several reasons. We replaced thel lagre window with 6 over 6 windows that are georgeous and go to the ceiling (low ceiling). We don't have anything on that side of the house except our yard and trees and I like to believe I'm actually in the forest. The most important reason is that is where the cat tree is and the resident felines would be very upset if I interfered with their bird watching!
This trend for extra long drapes reminds me of when I got my first flat and I misjudged the length of curtains I needed for the bedroom, and they "puddled". My mum and (future) MIL were horrified, but I just thought "oh well, it might become a trend in future!" 😊 Thanks, Garrett!
I will never EVER be a no covering on my window… nope. lol We have beautiful trim courtesy of my husband, I had him create an extra wide piece along a bank of windows,
and it hides the electric shades, no ugly hardware to be seen, during the day it's a beautiful clear window at night privacy.
My drapes have a mild pooling, more than a kiss, but less than a pool. I was concerned the hemming process may not stay even, and this for me at least was a good way
to disguise any discrepancies between panels. The long velvet panels make my bathroom and bedroom feel extra luxurious <3. I will say vaccing is a little more time consuming.
I seen a comment about cleaning the walls, easily done, just use your swiffer mop dry dust. I do this 3/4 times a year, I have allergies o this helps my cause. I have a mild texture
throughout, and my husband and son are doing a venetian wall behind my piano. No it's not a DIY, he (my husband) has 30 plus years of plastering skills.
Thanks Garrett, I just had a full on conversation 😂 I am in need of sleep! Thanks for the great video.
I just found out how opinionated I am Ha. 1-No to the walls, to easy to go bad or look dated. 2- I see luxury or breeziness in long drapes. "Right room, right kind of fabric" Beauty is worth some extra care. 3- I prefer a wooden floors over tile. But I would be cautious to go eco-friendly somehow. 4- The "no drapes" is a NO. "staged" comes to mind. A hidden blackout shade or bifold plantation shutters. 5- Love the integrated headboard (again like the fabric ones best) – it looks cozy and sophisticated.
Your videos are becoming more and more interesting. You are so relaxed, confident and Your sense of humour is always to the point (but that’s behind the point😁).
I think drapes laying on floor or even with a break look sloppy. But then I always look for ways to make my life easier and not having drapes on floor makes cleaning easier.
I happy track lighting is back because I never removed mine lol. I kept telling myself it’s fine it looks industrial lol
I don’t like drapes slopping on the floor. Looks to me like someone measured wrong. It’s like guys wearing trousers that are too long.
I LOVE mid toned woods; 7:37 is my dream floor. I would never go with no window treatments since I live in the suburbs; however, if I were out in the mountains like some of the examples, I would definitely forego the curtains to focus on the view. I would always have shades though, even if just for those times when you don't want the light shining in your eyes. Not too fond of the integrated headboard, as it seems like it would significantly limit your options as to where to put your bed. Need to move it into the corner one day? Forget it. I hate curtains that lie on the floor, and the ones that are only .5-1.0 inch are even worse than the ones that make pet beds. It looks like you mis-measured and never bothered to fix it. At least the pet beds look intentional.
I need all my windows with the option to close it all up
Yeah extra long drapes don’t work for me.
The extra long curtains are impractical in a kitchen. Always in the way. So I hung them an inch high so the dogs don't sit on them and the robot vacuum can get around it while cleaning.
I cannot understand why anyone on Gods green earth someone would not want window treatments! Not only do you not have any privacy but I’m sorry it’s God awful ugly!! You don’t need to cover every inch of the window but window treatments are beautiful. There’s so many options & it doesn’t need to cost a fortune. It helps finish the room imo. 😊
We had new windows installed at the cottage and never put the drapes back up in the living room and kitchen. We love the views out the 3 huge living room windows plus no neighbours close enough to see in. The room is flooded with light ❤
If we had close neighbours yes, I’d want the privacy 👍
I think the extra long sheers have a nice and more casual look., which I like.
Would never get an integrated headboard but I do not like permanent built-in anything except kitchen and bathroom cabinets and, sometimes, bookshelves. Built-in anything limits room arrangements. In the case of an integrated headboard, your bed must stay in that one place unless you plan to remove the headboard and paint the whole wall. If you move, you have to hope the headboard fits and works in the new home. My dorm room back in the 1970s had a built in headboard and we all hated them because the furniture placement could not be changed unless you wanted a wall with this big ugly headboard permanently affixed to it.
11:58 not that we want to hear it! Lol You have grown to have such great comedic timing on your videos! Great interior insight with hilarious comedy. ❤️😎
I love sexy nakedness but even so, no window treatments is a complete no-no!
We’re refinishing the floors in the house we just bought and trying to decide what stain to use on the floors. Even though it’s trending out, we’ll probably end up going with the lighter/natural warm color. We like the midtone and darker woods… but that means a lot of our furniture is in that shade. And we’re both drawn to darker colors in decorating. So to keep the place from feeling stuffy and closed in, we’re thinking lighter floors.
oooh, love those glasses 💕
I live in the south. Very traditional home, ala Williamsburg. Swaged windows in formal rooms, but lower shutters. I like my fancy trim to show! Only shutters in informal rooms, i.e. kitchen, family room. Bedrooms, curtains and blinds! Not entertaining neighbors! Nope!!!
The windows without any blinds or curtains (if you have a nice view) can be great – until the sun goes down and you start to feel like a character in a “Scream” movie 😱 😀
Love, love your videos! Totally with you especially on the need for window treatments. And the integrated headboard. 👍🏻
Hello 👋 I love the integrated headboard I will definitely be looking into getting one or even DIY one. I have never been good at selecting drapes it’s my least favorite thing to do so I’ve opted to have Roman shades on all my windows it works for me. Great video,
Even if privacy isn't a concern, I don't like looking out to darkness at night. For some reason, it's not the same as being outside in the dark, which can be wonderful. Another thing to consider with absent or minimal window treatments is how that affects the room's acoustics. It can make the room sound overly "bright" or even have an echo.
I don't understand the drapes on the floor thing at all. No purpose. Not attractive. Not for me anyway.
I think the too longish drapes look messy in a lazy accidental way. And yes the full of dog hair visual is what really would happen in many homes.
When we bought our house 7 years , there were no window coverings in the bedrooms. Our main bedroom has a wall of sliding doors all the way across. This is also the front of the house. I giggled when I thought about the couple we bought it from, they were in their eighties, at the time, and they never had window coverings for the entire 16 years they had lived here 😳. I bought a mid century bed with the built in headboard and floating nightstands, I absolutely love it!
✨ While I do love the look no window coverings in certain places, the blinding glare I can't stand, and it unfortunately allows rays of dust come in, which is awful . Terrible especially on black cabinetry in kitchen and baths. Got the pros out to put on film in various areas, so that cures that! The pattern is called "Frozen Rain". It was the one my Decorator friend and I were both instantly attracted to. Most people who come over favorably comment on it straight away, and have to touch it. 😂 Also, I don't want to see the screened in porch from open living area downstairs. Allows filtered light, but no vision through , which is good for certain areas. Pros are recommended here, it looks JUST like real textured glass windows. Best of both worlds ! 😊
Garrett, the rental deposit is the decorating fee. 😀 Every apartment I've rented, I've remodeled. Some keep my deposit, some refund me for the materials. 🙂
I'm building a house with NO window treatments but I don't have neighbours rual block
One thing for sure about people with those longer curtains is that they don't have Roombas–those things choke on fabric for sure!
