Video Title: Instantly Sound Great With Major Pentatonic (NeverLost): Allman Brothers Guitar Feel
All right welcome back to another episode of stitch method today we’re going to keep it light we’re gonna keep it easy and we’re going to get you to sound really really good with like a minimal amount of information and so how do I do this well about three years ago I introduced
Something called the major never lost pentatonic it was a linear pen of type that connects all of your major pentatonic boxes in a linear fashion it’ll be linked below we’re gonna use that and we’re going to use a pretty standard Jam for a backing track so really quickly let’s talk about the
Backing track first very simple d c g And then loops right here now if you’re a Grateful Dead fan you’re going to notice this as I know your writer and if you’re not a Grateful Dead fan it’s fine we’re not learning the soul like Jerry Garcia we’re gonna learn how to solo really impressively and it’s actually gonna
Sound a lot like the Allman Brothers alright so what we need to master this is we need a D major pentatonic and again we’re gonna do the D major never loss so what we’re gonna do is put our first fingers on the fifth fret here and the way this major pentatonic feels and
Play with me is five with the index finger ring finger seven then slide to nine I bet there you go then seventh for the D index finger ninth for the D and a ring finger and back on your root note here seventh fret cheese your first
Little never lost box all right now on a root note again the pattern repeats index on the ring finger index on the root ring finger two frets up slice two frets now we would have put our first finger on that ninth fret but it’s the B
String so you got to come up to tenth fret it’s ten twelve and then e string ten so the first two legs can’t two octaves are on the root note and you can repeat this pattern for as long as less there we go we’re out of room so you
Want to practice now in my major never lost video I do it on a totally different backing track on this I want to show you how you can like go to your band and go hey guys can just play this a DCG backing track I want to practice
Soloing and then what you’re going to do is play this now I’m gonna give you an example I’m gonna turn on some some distortion I’m gonna hit the backing track and you’re gonna hear it sounds very much like the own brothers and it gives you this really cool sound and I’m
Just gonna kind of haphazardly play so let’s see we’re gonna do Okay now you’re probably hearing like oh those kind of sound really good and all you gotta do is pay attention to when that D and is happening in the backing track and make sure that you want to try and hit one those DS as it’s working now
It is that simple this path if you got if you can load up with your band and say hey play this back track and you just hit this and you kind of like feel really loose you’re gonna sound great but that’s not what this video is all
About I’m gonna show you a couple things you know this never lost pentatonic is is really easy to play once you get your hang up a hang of it but the idea is you can take this Jam a little bit further and you can also do this with many other
Jams alright and so we have the D chord and that moves to a C and then a G well you also can move your pentatonix with that so my D would be here in the fifth fret and for the C take the same pattern storm the third fret [Applause]
Right and I’m a G you do the same thing but every time you get to the B string you gotta every time you get to the B string you have to go jump up a fret so you have all these major never lost Panasonic’s everywhere and listen to
What happens now all I’m gonna do is focus this guy in the root note for the D this guy in the sea this guy on the G unless what happens I should get my right hand in here really quick alright so now just to show you I’m going to adjust my seat so you can see a little bit of my right hand palm stay there alrights a little bit better it’s kind of on the screen so now what you can do
Here is realize this this is the most important like feature of this lesson if you can find any root note any DC or G right you have your D here D here D here oh you know you had your see here but why not like Vickers see here remember
You got give that B string there’s a C major never lock a G here and so you don’t have to you don’t do new doom you can do something like this as long as you find any C or any G or any D you can
Come off let’s see the C here and so as long as you can see these guys it’s gonna sound great You can have a lot of fun moving these pentatonix now if you like this on my patreon account its it’s link below I’m gonna have like three to five practice videos and how to practice all this different stuff I already have one I actually made a lesson for for patreon
And as I made it I said this is gonna be my next YouTube video and so you really can sound really good by moving this major never lost pentatonic either starting on the first note of your mixolydian jam I’ll discuss this again on the patreon or by changing a per
Chord that happens at their all major chords one last thing I want to show you and this is I guess the most intense piece of the puzzle a regular like D major pentatonic box and be Anna’s 10th fret right here and there’ll be 10 12 9
12 9 12 nine eleven ten twelve and and this little box right here when you come in that second leg right here and then these guys right here I showed you take advantage of playing like you know that’s just and you’re gonna get that diggy best type sounding since I’m a
Little like this you get the idea so go instantly sound good right now lay down that back in track practice your major never lost pentatonix then if you want to learn more learn how to practice visit my patreon account link below hope you enjoyed this or rock and roll bye bye

The same thing works for minor
Thanks!
I love this guy. He's like the you tube Jesus of the guitar
Great! This is essentially the Allman’s “Blue Sky”. So melodic.
Amazing explanation
Just got it! Thanks!
You make it look so easy.
🏆
YOU ARE THE GUY!!!!!
The very first scale I ever learned. I actually learned it playing bass. I use the whole thing as a speed riff by doing it chromatically. I hit every note in between the scale notes. 😉 Country music is heavy on the major scale. I cut my teeth on country.
Pink Floyd’s Fat Old Sun taught me this ✌️great video
i use this technique but i actually discovered it on my own by duplicating bass lines from the root to the slide up or stitch method.
Really Cool.
This is awesome!!!! Thank you
More specific than just “sounds like Allman Brothers” is: Exactly a technique & sound of Dickey Betts 🎶👍
Dickey loves playing linear direction, finger-sliding from 1 to 2 to maj 3
Been playing a LONG time. This is a major breakthrough for me.
The Allman Brothers sound was immediately obvious.
Going to go try this out soon! Thanks!!
Great lesson thank you so much . You definitely help people on all levels of their journey .
Cool video, really helpful. Is it bad I was getting more of a let it be Beatles vibe?
An excellent lesson. THX
Stich eres un gran profesor, haces muy simple conceptos bien complejos!
Warm it up. Stitch !!! I’m about to. Warm it up stich cuz that’s what I was born to do
You make my brain smoke. This is such a great explanation of something that sounds so difficult.
Very much Alman Bros.

Awesome
I hear a Toy Caldwell sound
I like it! Nice work there. I'd say it's more of a Marshall Tucker sound than ABB….
This sounds so good
This Is gold
Sounds like Marshall Tucker to Me . Can`t You see .
great lesson
Nice Les Paul!
Thank you Ian! You’ve given me plenty to work with! Awesome video
Great lesson !
You can hear the same approach in Skynyrd's song "Am I losin' " in which the solo is played by the late great Ed King – who created this solo to play tribute to Toy Caldwell. R.I.P! Great tutorial from a great person. Thank You!
This teaches people that may not be there yet, the beginnings of learning the fret board to play over chord changes and also teaches how you can just play lead in the key or tonal center of a chord progression.
This is a very useful lesson.
Awesome lesson! Maybe one day you can set up your own practice lessons page; Patreon is a pretty unusable platform IMO.
Ian how did I miss this I get it now Thank You so much 🎸
Nice!!
Man thank you … you really teach with love … Lots of love to you too man
Stitch is my fav YouTube lesson er
Excellent! You are the best teacher I have ever seen and heard.
Such a cool lesson man, I have been playing for an embarrassingly long time, although I did take a long hiatus, but still get stuck when jamming. I either fall into my “regular” solo for whatever key we’re playing which bores the pants off everyone or I try to spice it up and get lost trying to link my “boxes” together in real time.
I wish I had learned this a long time ago. Thanks for the great content and in particular your Dead stuff because jerry was tricky. Thanks again
