Really cool to see the growth of the game and your development journey, it's looking great!
im using a lot of plugins to give my God sim some mod support, two of them are dream os to simulate a desktop environment, and runtime editor which gives a very unity like interface, in game. my thinking is between them i can tutorialize and cater to mod authoring in a streamlined/convenient/familiar/simple format. But a game ABOUT a game dev returning to an abandoned project and losing control to npcs within the game, i think dream os and real time editor could make that a lot more immersive and really help with the storytelling.
imagine booting up ThisIsTheGame and being met with a desktop with a unity icon on it, you double click the unity icon and a fake unity hub which is just a screenshot of the real unity hub pops up with ThisIsTheGame in the recent projects section, maybe some other projects that when you click on them they say theyre corrupted or something. but when you click the invisible button hovering above the ThisIsTheGame project you make a little fake 'loading' window and it opens real time editor, then through some shenanigan's your actual game as it exists now becomes full screen, then you can go back to try some error fixing in the real time editor and you can slowly simulate the 'developer' losing control of the editor entirely as the npcs show how much power theyve gained in your absence.
You could simulate a mouse cursor that at first follows the actual mouse position in screen space, then slowly take control of the mouse pointer to simulate the npcs control over the developers pc. dream os already has a faux messaging app, maybe you could have the dev ask their developer friend for some advice on what might be happening through the messaging app, then the npcs from this is the game take over and stop letting the dev communicate or something.
Something like that i think would be really cool for your setting/story/atmosphere. I actually got this idea from YOU. i was just watching your last steam page video on the channel and i guess its a reupload from twitch, and you apparently have this little graphic of an npc thats allowed to wander all around the screen while youre streaming, so when i first noticed it, it was in the 'game space' then it wandered into your unity instance. and i thought you accomplished that by having a canvas 'in front of' runtime editor with an instance of your game level inside the editors game window. i was like 'that is such a cool use of runime editor' especially considering the story of the game world.
then it slowly occurred to me that i was projecting assumptions onto your project. but if you did do that, it would be dope as hell.
Anyway i know you probably wont do it and if you tried it would be a heck of a lot of work, but it would be cool.
Added to steam list for original idea😎
Good luck to you friend! I will never attempt to make a big game without an experienced team at my disposal for sure, every "dream game" video I see is always at least 1+ year of development, and nowhere near close to release.
Hey great video. Deff keep going, streaming, blogging and enjoying your design. Look forward to the next video!
I'm really enjoying your devlogs! Where can I catch your streams?
This is such a cool koncept, i'm very intrigued
Nice. As an indie dev myself, love seeing other devs' progress, it's really inspiring
if you keep pressing 5 she will go "boing boing boing boing"
amazing keep up the good work, i wish i could be in your level one day❤❤
you're an inspiration, good dev progress
how old are ye?
aside from the proyect, im simping for this queen. im sorry
I love your voice
Super!
why release a steam page if its still a year out? just wondering
Can't believe youve only been working on this for a year, looks great so far!
This is awesome! I've decided for a career change and am going back to school for game developments, so it's refreshing to see someone talk so openly about the building, trying things out, learning and failing. Very inspiring!
Great to see an overview of your journey so far and how things have changed and progressed over time. Congrats on reaching one year-ish and everything you've achieved over that year, including the Steam page launch! Called it on the streams though.. 😭😜 Hope your work/life transition is going well and you're getting plenty of rest!
Does your game have a discord group?
Hey Mira, It's great to see another devlog from you again. I must admit the progress you have done within the year has been impressive with this game. I also recently myself started working on my first game to but using godot for my engine choice for right now. I really like how you have the npc characters talk to the player when they comeback into the game. Havent seen that done quite often in these types of games and find it's a really fun quality of life onto them. Keep up the great wor mira. Also welcome to livestreaming on twitch.
